The Animated Film: The Carousel of Shame

Picture

SHORT FILM  |  2018  | Duration: 17 mins

The Della Morte Sisters have been made into a short animated film as a good way to introduce these great characters and  their amazing world. The short is called 'Della Mortika: Carousel of Shame' and follows the sisters after they arrive in Australia and are sent to the Skipping Girl Home for Wayward and Homeless Girls (it is set between books 2 and 3). The Della Morte Sister have their sisterly bond put to the test when jealousy rears its ugly head. The film has been produced in a stop-motion style using paper puppets and pop-ups to bring the girls from the pages of the books into lively animation. The film is currently on the Festival Circuit. The TV Series -  Della Mortika: Steampunk Adventures

Picture
We have developed a 13 x 12 mins TV series set in this world following the Della Morte Sisters. We are currently looking for further development funding and production partners.

Della Mortika is a steampunk world focussing on three inventive, intelligent and resourceful girls as they search for their missing parents in a strange, dark and exciting new city.

Abigail, Beatrix and Zarah Della Morte, find themselves stuck in the Skipping Girl Orphanage in Steampunk Melbourne - a mysterious world full of machines, villains and dark gothic beauty. The normal line of history is altered in this world and while some parts appear old fashioned, others appear strangely futuristic. This world is archaic and advanced, Dickensian and Orwellian, elegant and spooky. The sisters themselves are vastly different, working best when they band together.

The series received Development Funding from ScreenACT's Project Pod initiative in 2010 and won the Holding Redlich Pitching Competition at the Screen Producers' Association of Australia Conference in 2011.
